Northside Neighbor-to-Neighbor Timebank

Thank you for your interest in the Northside Neighbor-to-Neighbor Timebank!

Timebanking is an exciting new way for our community to value the unpaid work we do for one another: helping neighbors with their yardwork, driving a friend to pick up groceries, serving on your school’s parent/teacher organization, volunteering with the senior coalition, tutoring a child at your neighborhood elementary school… these everyday acts of kindness keep our community strong and healthy, and Timebanking can help encourage them.

How does Timebanking work?

For every hour of service you perform, you earn one Time Dollar. You can then spend that Time Dollar on any number of services and goods offered within the Timebank Network. You just contact the Timebank Coordinator when you need help with something, and they’ll assign another member to the task. Once that task has been accomplished, you submit a form, and the Coordinator transfers one Time Dollar from your account into the other member’s account.

The idea behind Timebanking is that we all have something to give – your time, as an individual, is worth the same as anyone else’s time. Helping works best as a two-way street – those who volunteer their time in the community know how good it feels to give. By spending your Time Dollars, you give someone else the chance to help you, giving them the opportunity to share in the good feelings and self-respect of having reciprocated. And when we are all interconnected and invested in one another, our community is stronger, our children are safer, and our quality of life improves.

Take a look at this Northside Neighbor-to-Neighbor Timebank Map to see all the possibilities for our community!

Wondering what you have to offer?

Take a look at the last page of the application form – it’s a checklist to help give you ideas. If you can do something that’s not on there, let us know and we’ll add it. People, young and old, can earn Time Dollars for just about anything they do that helps anyone else.

How do I get involved?

Contact the Dane County Timebank at www.danecountytimebank.org or call 663-0400 to get involved!

Thank you again for your interest, and we look forward to having you as a member of the Northside Neighbor-to-Neighbor Timebank!
